"Why I Fear a Genetic Disaster..." ...Prince Charles
Courting disaster,
trying nature to master,
doomsday comes faster!
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 14:12 & 16:25Genetic Engineering - "The First Sense & The Last Word"
In a (U.K.) Daily Mail article, Wednesday, 16 May 2000, HRH Prince Charles expressed his concern for a potential genetic disaster. This in turn provoked an immediate counter-attack, from Nobel Prize winner Dr. James Watson, accusing Prince Charles of pandering to superstition and raising irrational fears.
In addressing the present day issues, ethics & implications of genetic engineering, one could be forgiven for thinking that only those acknowledged experts in this specialised field of science should have any say in the matter. Thankfully there are those attempting to bring some sense into the argument, such as Prince Charles. Having the courage to put his own integrity on the line, in challenging the headlong rush of those scientists seeking progress, for progress sake, regardless of cost.
Dr. Watson went on to say... the Prince of Wales shouldn't cry wolf until he sees a wolf.
Which is effectively saying that your not allowed to criticise until after it all goes wrong, which by then of course it will be too late!
Dr. Watson also added: "People say we are playing God. In all honesty, if scientists don't play God, who will?"
Clearly Dr. Watson cannot accommodate God in his equations, one must therefore assume that he is an atheist, as such from a biblical perspective such a person is fool. Albeit an educated one!
Perhaps some of the extreme scientific attitudes could be summed up with the cliche'...... "fools rush in where angels fear to tread".
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Psalms 14:1 & 53:1Prince Charles of course, (as the future Defender of the Faith,???) is clearly a more God fearing man & addresses this controversial issue with a more spiritual approach than Dr. Watson!
Adopting a Biblical approach...
When considering the tenuous relationship between science & religion, it is worth remembering that two of the fathers of modern day science...
Sir Isaac Newton & Blaise Pascal were both Christian believers & made some interesting comments relevant to this issue & being the basis of this ministry.
Essentially a humble God-fearing attitude has to be the foundation. And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
Deuteronomy 6:24And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
Job 28:28The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10According to scripture, (Genesis 1:26-28), mankind has been given dominion over, i.e. responsibility for, creation. God only intervenes in extreme situations, e.g. Noah & Lot, in the past & the Great Tribulation, in the near future. This next intervention is obviously imminent, as mankind, unable to resolve the world's problems, now has his eyes on the rest of the universe. The possibility of the universe becoming populated & colonised by educated fools pursuing there own ego trips is just too frightening to contemplate!
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1:4And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good...
Genesis 1: 31Very good means cannot be improved upon (...not forgetting the present curse that creation is under due to the fall - (Genesis 5:29).
To quote biblical scholar Dr. Jack Van impe, "If the first sense makes sense seek NO other sense." alternatively in addressing an issue as seemingly complex as this, one should revert to the use of Occam's Razor.

"When learned men begin to use their reason, then I generally discover that they haven't got any." - ILN 11-7-08G.K. ChestertonQuotation Courtesy of the American Chesterton Society
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1 Corinthians 1:19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1 Corinthians 3:19-20
Bible prophecy, which is the basis for this particular ministry, is extremely helpful in discerning the ethics presented here. Prophecy is as reliable as history, given to us in advance, for our benefit & edification, so as long as the prophetic scriptures are interpreted correctly, we are provided with some truly amazing insights, or to more accurate, foresights!
Consider...the following outstanding prophecies....
The 3rdHorsemen of the Apocalypse... ...Refers to Black Horse..Famine
The 4rdHorsemen of the Apocalypse... ...Refers to Pale Horse..Plagues etc.
The 3rdTrumpet Judgment...Refers to contamination of Water..
The 2nd & 3rdBowl or Vial Judgments...Refers to further contamination..
...& that perhaps the activities of "Educated Fools" could be a contributary factor in precipitating these calamitous judgments???
In the meantime,"Watch & Pray"...(Study the Word),
"Bible Prophecy is more up-to-date than late-breaking news!"
...keep praying for the coming Kingdom of God! ...
